The first museum in the nation dates back to 1883 started by the British in Taiping. It was followed by the Sarawak Museum in 1888.
Muzium Negara (National Museum) replaced the Selangor Museum which was built in 1899.
A section of the Selangor museum building was accidentally bombed during World War Two by the Allied Forces on March 10, 1945.
